Algie Godfrey Banks

Algie Godfrey Banks, 92, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Ms. Banks was born in Florence, SC, the daughter of the late Lillian Pace Godfrey and Edgar C. Godfrey, Sr. She graduated from McClenaghan High School and did office work for the rest of her life for numerous companies. Ms. Banks finally retired in November of 2010. She loved gardening and was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Ramona C. Broach and Shirley Isenhower; and brothers, Edgar “Zeke” Godfrey, Jr.; CMSGT James Curtis “Shorty” Godfrey (USAF, Retired)

Surviving are her sons, Jerry Banks (Donna) and Jimmy Banks (Dana); four grandchildren, Katelyn Clifton, Courtney Gates, Sheldon Banks, and Brandon Banks; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Edward “Buck” Godfrey and Jackie G. “Bubba” Godfrey (Janis); and sister-in-law, Lynelle Godfrey.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends following the service.
