Agnes Poston Creel

Agnes Poston Creel, 70, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Agape Hospice in the Carolinas Hospital Systems. Mrs. Creel was born in Oak Grove, SC, on December 19, 1945, a daughter of the late, Thomas Curtis Hayes and Sadie Mae Moore Hayes.She was lovingly raised by Johnny and Sadie Rotan.Mrs. Creel worked as a private nurse and was the wife of Thomas “Tommy” Lynn Creel of Florence. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Legrand L. “LG” Poston, Jr.; daughters, Linda P. Nettles of Scranton, Donna R. Poston of Florence, and Beverly P. (Squeaky) Matthews of Scranton; three grandchildren, James L. “LJ” Nettles of Scranton, Hannah R. Springs of Lake City and Daniel Garrett Poston of Florence; five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn R. Springs of Lake City, Taylor O. Springs of Lake City, Kylee Nettlesand Kierra Nettles, both of Florence and Allison R. Poston of Florence; sisters, Ruth Copper of Great Falls and Cathy Rotan of Florence; brothers, Roy Rogers of Gallivants Ferry and Thomas(Lynne) Rotan of Florence; her special canine companion, Harley; and her special friends, Sandy and Harold Young, Lynn Hanna and Pat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Legrand L. Poston, Sr.; two brothers, Johnny “Bubba” Rotan and Robert Rotan; two granddaughters, Tiffany G. Matthews and Ashley T. Springs; her son-in-law, James E. (Jamie) Nettles and her in-laws, Joe and Joann Creel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Beverly P. Matthews, 1420 Hoover Road, Scranton, SC.
