Saleem Gus Cottros, 86, of Florence, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018. Mr. Cottros was born in Florence, a son of the late Gus Cottros and Mintaha Kershaw Cottros. He attended Carolina College of Commerce and received his Associate Degree from Florence Darlington TECH.He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Korean War.Mr. Cottros was the manager of Pee Dee Shrine Club. He was a member of the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church, a life member of VFW, life member of Omar Shrine, life member of Amity Lodge and life member of Scottish Rite of Charleston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Anderson Cottros; brothers, George Cottros and Gus Cottros, Jr.; and sister, Maria Joyner. Surviving are his sons, Father Nektarios Cottros, of New Brunswick, NJ, Chris Cottros, of Nashville, TN; his sisters, Inez Rotann (George) and Adele Hewitt, both of Florence; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The Trisagion will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church.
