Nell Keefe Bernard

April 24, 1930 - February 7, 2021

Nell Keefe Bernard, 90, of Pamplico, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Mrs. Bernard was the daughter of William Frank Keefe and Gussie Lewis Keefe. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Pamplico First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland L. Bernard, her parents, her brothers, Frank Keefe, Jr., Lewis Keefe, two sisters, Lois Gaster and Ruth Locklair, and her lifelong friend, Mary Katherine Miller Lyday. Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Munn and Carolyn McGaha, four grandchildren, Chip (Trish) Munn, Johnathan (Allison) Munn, Amy (Pete) Loper, Pam (Luke) Cubbler and fourteen great-grandchildren, sister, Doris Thompson. Mrs. Bernard spent her entire life in Pamplico. She began her postal career in 1957, attaining the position of Postmaster a few years prior to her retirement. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with friends. For the last four and one-half years, Mrs. Bernard resided at The Manor in Florence. She gained new friendships and enjoyed singing at the Wednesday afternoon Praise & Worship. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502, www.mcleodfoundation.com or to the House of Hope (Coats and Blankets), hofh.org. For the protection and safety of everyone during the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not have an open visitation and will have a private service. The family is being assisted by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family would like to express their appreciation to The Manor for the care and love shown to her by the staff of Assisted Living and Magnolia Terrace, and to McLeod Hospice.
